CURT's 52042 is a trailer breakaway kit: the battery, switch and lanyard that apply a trailer's electric brakes if it ever separates from the tow vehicle. It is a legal requirement for braked trailers in most jurisdictions. The sealed case bolts to the trailer A-frame, a push-to-test button and LED tell you whether the battery is charged, charging or flat, and the 12-volt battery recharges from the tow vehicle or from CURT's #52025 charger. Rated for trailers with up to three axles.
