Westcan Van Shelving & Storage
Aluminum van shelving for work vehicles
Shelving is what turns an empty cargo van into a working vehicle. Westcan builds aluminum van shelving in Chilliwack, BC, and Absolute Autoguard carries the full range — complete units, individual shelf kits, end panels, dividers, retainer lips and parts bins, with published fitment for every major cargo van.
Roughly 500 parts sit in this collection. That sounds like a lot until you are configuring a van, at which point it is the reason you can build exactly the layout the job needs rather than the closest thing on a pallet.
Complete units, or build your own
Vehicle-specific shelf units come in two, three, four and five shelf configurations, cut to the contour of the van they are going into. Fold-up shelving folds flat against the wall when the space is needed for cargo.
Universal kits let you assemble a layout from parts: choose end panels for the height and depth you want, then add shelf kits between them. Straight and contoured end panels are both available, and shelf kits come in lengths from 24 to 96 inches.
Specifications worth knowing
- Each shelf carries 55 lb per linear foot.
- Shelf surfaces are phenolic-coated, and take 0.100” aluminum dividers that screw directly to the surface. Dividers are sold separately in packs of 10 and 50.
- Shelf retainer lips keep loose stock on the shelf when the van is moving.
- All mounting brackets, hardware and instructions are included. Depending on the trim level of your vehicle, some modification may be required.
Fitment
The deepest coverage in this collection is for Ford Transit (150, 250, 350 and 350 HD, low through high roof, 130” to extended wheelbase), Ram ProMaster (1500, 2500 and 3500, 118” to 159”), and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (2500 through 4500, standard to super high roof). Chevrolet Express, GMC Savana, Nissan NV and Mercedes-Benz Metris are also covered, along with cube vans, trailers and SpaceKap service bodies.
Where shelving fits in the build
For a full van upfit the order that saves rework is: liners first, so the interior panels are protected and you have a mounting surface, then a safety partition, then shelving and drawer units, then accessories.
Common questions
How much weight will a shelf hold?
55 lb per linear foot — so a 48” shelf carries roughly 220 lb, evenly distributed.
Can I add shelving to a van that already has some?
Usually yes. The universal kits are designed to be combined, so you can extend a run or add a second bank. Send us what is already in the van and we will confirm what matches.
How long does installation take?
Install times are published per product, drawn from Westcan's own figures. A single shelf kit is typically well under an hour; a full multi-shelf unit takes longer.
