Choosing the right Audi hitch

Do I need 4-flat or 7-way wiring on an Audi?
A 4-flat for a trailer with lights only, a 7-way for a trailer with electric brakes. The only plug-in harness here is the 4-flat for the 2013 to 2017 Q5; other Audis need the USCAR T-connector or a wiring job, so ask before you order.
Does an Audi need a brake controller?
Only when the trailer has electric brakes. Every province sets a weight above which trailer brakes are mandatory, and a Q7 with a Class 4 hitch can pull a trailer over that limit.
