Choosing the right Acura hitch
Read the year range first, because the RDX changed hitches four times. A 1-1/4 inch receiver on a TLX or ILX carries a bike rack; a 2 inch Class 3 on an RDX or MDX tows a trailer. Stay under both the hitch rating and the tow rating in your owner's manual. If you are not sure what fits, contact us with your year, make, model and configuration.

What class hitch does an Acura MDX need?
A Class 3 with a 2 inch receiver for most towing, listed for every MDX generation from 2001. Draw-Tite's Class 4 for 2014 to 2026 gives the highest rated receiver.
Do I need 4-flat or 7-way wiring on an Acura?
A 4-flat. Every Acura harness here ends in a 4-way flat, which runs the trailer lights and suits a utility trailer, small boat or tent trailer. A 7-way is not listed for any Acura.
Does an Acura need a brake controller?
Only when the trailer has electric brakes. Each province sets a weight above which trailer brakes are required, and most trailers within an MDX or RDX tow rating fall under it.
