Trailer hitches and wiring for every Subaru from the Impreza to the Ascent
Almost every product here is a receiver hitch or a wiring harness. CURT provides the largest share, Draw-Tite the next, and Tekonsha the harnesses. TorkLift adds three hidden EcoHitch designs and B&W a Class 3 hitch for the 2018 to 2025 Crosstrek. Coverage reaches back to 1990 Legacy and Outback models and forward to the 2026 Forester, Outback, Crosstrek and Ascent. A few listings are shared with Toyota because the Solterra and bZ4X are the same vehicle.

CURT receiver hitches
Class 1 hitches for the Impreza, WRX and WRX STI, Class 2 hitches for older Foresters, Legacys and Outbacks, and Class 3 hitches with a 2 inch receiver for the 2009 to 2026 Forester, 2010 to 2026 Outback, 2013 to 2026 Crosstrek and 2019 to 2026 Ascent.
Draw-Tite receiver hitches
Draw-Tite mirrors that coverage and adds Hidden Hitch versions for the 2019 to 2026 Forester and 2020 to 2026 Outback.
TorkLift EcoHitch
The Invisi Hitch for the 2013 to 2017 XV Crosstrek and 2015 to 2021 WRX, and a stainless steel Stealth EcoHitch for the 2022 to 2026 WRX, hide everything except the 2 inch receiver opening.
Tekonsha wiring harnesses
T-One harnesses with the ModuLite HD module plug into the taillight connectors and end in a 4-way flat for the Legacy, Ascent and Solterra. The Ascent also gets a 7-way harness and a 30A brake controller harness, the two parts needed to pull a braked trailer. CURT's plug-in 4-flat kits for the Impreza, WRX and Legacy sit under custom towing wiring.

Choosing the right Subaru hitch
Match the year range first, since a 2014 to 2018 Forester and a 2019 to 2026 Forester take different hitches. A 1-1/4 inch receiver carries a bike rack or cargo tray; a 2 inch Class 3 receiver handles a utility trailer, tent trailer or small boat. Compare the hitch rating on the product page with the tow rating in your owner's manual and stay under both. If you are not sure what fits, contact us with your year, make, model and configuration.
Common questions
What class hitch does a Subaru Outback need?
Most Outback owners choose a Class 3 hitch with a 2 inch receiver, listed for every generation from 2010 on. A Class 2 with a 1-1/4 inch receiver is also listed for bike rack use.
Is a 4-flat harness enough for a Subaru?
Yes, for any trailer without electric brakes. The 4-flat carries running lights, brake and turn signals and ground. Only the Ascent is listed with a 7-way harness, which adds brake and charge circuits.
Does a Subaru need a brake controller?
Only when the trailer has its own electric brakes. Every province sets a weight above which trailer brakes are mandatory, so a larger camper behind an Ascent will need the Tekonsha controller harness listed here and a controller to match.
Can I get a hitch that does not show under the bumper?
Yes. TorkLift EcoHitches and Draw-Tite Hidden Hitch models for the Crosstrek, WRX, Forester and Outback keep everything but the receiver opening out of sight.
